Designing PowerPoint Slides
Throughout the years of multimedia projector usage in the meetings and presentations, PowerPoint slides has been of great importance in visualizing the data. An otherwise boring presentation can easily be charmed up by using nice and useful slides. Even the boring and uninteresting data come to life with the clever usage of visual tricks on the slides. If you are in need of designing a slide soon, the following tips should definitely help you do it.
There are two basic elements of a PowerPoint slide. One of them is the data that is to be presented and the other is the framework or template on which it will be based on. The data is the most important part of the presentation. You have to design the slides in a way that it has priority over anything else and looks significant. Also, it is very important not to put too much importance to the data or the slide as you are the person who would be presenting it. Keeping this in mind is very important while designing slides.
Several common and proven approaches have been made to displaying data. They include charts, tables and simple text. However, deciding which one is suitable for your slide is up to you. If you feel like the data must be displayed using pie chart, then do it. If tables seem better, you can use tables too. Just one thing you should bear in mind that the audience may find it hard to read if there are too much information on the charts. One very good idea is to emphasize on the data that is important. For example, if you are showing the expenditure trends of several companies on advertisement, emphasize on the one or two that are the most significant.
If you have to use tables, make sure the data on the table is visible to the person sitting at the far end. Charts should not have too many parts and the significant part must be emphasized by using different color and accompanying text. Use as little text as possible as you would want the audience to focus on you, not on the texts on the slides. The best slides are the simplest ones. Keep that in mind and do everything you can to keep it simple.
All the data presented on the slides rely on templates to express themselves. So it is very important to choose the right template. That means either designing one yourself or choosing from the free templates. Always remember not to use the common ones or bundled ones. Chances are they will not make the audience happy or amazed. Next thing you should do about templates is to reduce the use of distracting images. Surely a nice background image looks good but the presentation is not destined to look good. Rather, it is destined to deliver the data and assist you with presenting it. Use images that can assist the data on the slides. For example, if you are showing the growth of online marketing, a background image with logos of Facebook, Twitter and Youtube can be very helpful in explaining the subject. That’s about it with designing PowerPoint slides.
